I finally decided (after days trawling the internet) that I am going to place an order with http://www.elitevw.com/products.htm for a re-conditioned engine for £500, they have had some good press on the VW owners forums.
16/09/2008 Placed order today for re-conditioned engine with EliteVW but it's gonna be around 3 weeks before delivery
Also ordered new gearbox mounts and stainless steel firewall covers from http://www.vwheritage.com/
17/09/2008 Ordered Workshop Manual and Restoration Manual from Amazon
18/09/2008 Gearbox mounts an firewall covers came this morning. Fitted
20/09/2008 Ordered heat exchangers from Heritage, came 22nd.
22/09/2008 Ordered new front and rear shocks from Heritage, came 24th.
28/09/2008 Ordered HT leads, HT lead separators and tin screws, came 30th
02/10/2008 Took wheels and engine tins for shot-blasting and powder coating, collected 10th
07/10/2008 Ordered O/S Bump stop, chrome air filter and exhaust fitting kit, came 9th
10/10/2008 Ordered oil filler cap, came 14th
12/10/2008 Ordered Cal look bumpers, came 16th
13/10/2008 Ordered spark plugs
15/10/2008 Ordered crank pulley, alternator pulley and alternator stand
